Engagement at Cathedral Cave, Little Langdale

On February the 22nd, I proposed to my girlfriend in Cathedral Cave, in the English Lake District.

She was on holiday with her family in the Lakes, and I travelled up with my brother by surprise to meet her in the cave on the day they were meant to be going home.

Thanks to the support of her family, we were able to sort out a rendezvous at 12 noon on the Saturday in the cave, she had no idea I would be there, she thought I would be at home in the midlands!

Once my brother spotted she was arriving, he activated an app I had created especially for the occasion which started playing a piano loop from the song "Clara? (Clara's theme)" from Doctor Who, this meant it would loop through the start of the song until her arrival in the cave. This was playing on a bluetooth, battery powered speaker.

Once she was inside, the second loop was activated which played the rest of the song, and she arrived to where I was standing.

The cave is incredibly big, a lot bigger than Google Images will make you presume, it is awe-inspiring, and I couldn't have chosen a better place than that cave.

My brother and I arrived around an hour earlier to set up, by placing candles in the water, and on the cave floor to guide her to where I was standing. I got down on one knee, asked her, and she (thankfully!) said yes!

So, it begins. The life I lived will now change to be at one with my fiancée, and future wife, Jess Pritchard. I could not ask for a better soulmate.

Thanks to everyone for their support, and for keeping the plans quiet from Jess, to make this day the special moment she will remember for the rest of her life.

The occasion was filmed and photos were taken, I hope to include them at the bottom of this post later on. Should you want them before then, please just contact me.
